Evening primrose is found throughout North America as a biennial wildflower, its flowers do not bloom during the summer days (June-September).The vegetable oil produced from the seeds of evening primrose contains essential fatty acids (which cannot be synthesized by the body). It is particularly rich in gamma-linolenic acid, an omega 6 that has a protective effect on skin cells. Evening primrose also contains peltamic acid, a few unsaponifiables and triterpene esters as well as polyphenols with a reputation as a good antioxidant
